Altered Alma (2020-2021)

Altered Alma combines the beloved classic Metroidvania formula with RPG elements, dating sim features, a slick pixel-art presentation, and a gripping story. Whether you want to beat up bad guys, find love, or just explore the beautiful cityscape, Neo-Barcelona awaits!

Role: Game Programmer

Notable Contributions:

  • Developed expandable code for UI Menus

  • Architected event-driven asynchronous system for camera transition across rooms

  • Streamlined development processes with well-written technical documents 

While working as a Game Programmer at Altered Alma, I was responsible for the following tasks:

  • Developed a modular UI system to ensure scalability.

  • Created an asynchronous event-driven architecture for camera transitions.

  • Implemented dialog manager and linked it with mission quests.

  • Constant collaboration with artists and designers to optimize workflows.

  • Produced clear technical documentation for team members and new recruits to keep them informed about development processes.

  • Collaborated with technical artists to develop flickering lights in the spaceship.

  • Integrated unity with google sheets for fetching data in UI.

  • Created player inventory and storage inventory.


What I learned?

  • Segregation of Unity scenes for Level design, for tech and for art. This way, we streamlined the development process without causing disruptions to another team

  • Understanding the importance of clear communication within the multidisciplinary team is crucial for the successful development of the game.

  • Learnt standard principles for maintaining code bases for multiple platform development.

  • I learnt the importance of keeping up to date with the technical specifications of the engine and tools used for the game development process.
